صدها نفر در دمشق تظاهرات کردند و خواهان سوریه‌ای سکولار و دموکراتیک و تضمین حقوق و آزادی‌های زنان شدند. روی پلاکاردهای معترضان نوشته شده: «سوریه برای همه»، «هیچ‌ جامعه‌ای بدون آزادی زنان، آزاد نخواهد بود»، «حکومت مذهبی نمی‌خواهیم»، ...

یکی از معترضان می‌گوید: «زنان سوری در این سال‌ها همواره حاضر بوده‌اند، در اعتراضات خیابانی، در امدادرسانی به مجروحان، در بازداشتگاه‌ها و زندان‌ها، و حالا هم باید برای ساخت سوریه جدید حضور داشته باشه‌اند، نه به عنوان نیروهای در حاشیه و مشاور، بلکه به عنوان رهبران مسیر ساخت سوریه.»
