На этой территории должен появиться многофункциональный глубоководный перегрузочный комплекс, располагающий техникой для перевалки контейнеров, генеральных грузов, рыбной продукции, а также складскими помещениями класса А и холодильными мощностями для хранения морепродуктов. Кроме того, в Корсакове запланировано строительство нового международного пассажирского терминала.
На данный момент ведется подготовка проектной документации. К строительству портовой инфраструктуры регион будет готов приступить в 2023 году. Планируется, что обновленный порт сможет принять первые грузы в 2024 году.
