Минздрав Газы заявил, что по меньшей мере 500 человек были убиты в результате атаки, сотни человек остаются под обломками здания. Если информация о погибших подтвердится, атака станет самым смертоносным израильским авиаударом с 2008 года.
Израильские ресурсы уверяют, что по больнице попала неисправная ракета ХАМАС. Представитель армии обороны Израиля Даниэль Хагари заявил, что не может подтвердить нанесение удара по больнице:
