Работать начинал он в финансовом управлении администрации края и дорос до заместителя красноярского губернатора, тогда ещё Александра Хлопонина, после чего его и назначили замминистра финансов. Также какое-то время он был министром образования, но не срослось.
То есть, карьера М. Котюкова достаточно насыщенная, и после нового назначения он точно не растеряется. Остаётся пожелать ему только успехов на новом посту.
