We're not very open about it… In fact, We're ashamed of it...
but We've been struggling with addiction for awhile now.

About the whole of 2024, actually.
We’ve just now started escaping it.

Not a chemical addiction, thankfully, but an emotional one. You see, THC edibles don't not come with any physical/chemical addiction side effects... but it does give you a very complete escape from your struggles.

The feeling of “We're not Ourself unless We're high” persisted throughout all of last year, peaking around August and September.

Our loved ones intervened, and We took sobriety breaks, but We couldn’t escape that feeling.

It was mostly to escape the overwhelming sense of dread and hopelessness brought upon Us by both a forced unemployment lasting over 15 months, and domestic abuse leading much longer.

Knowing psychology, once We noticed the addiction, We started treating Ourself for substance use disorder.

We applied to Ourself some rules and restrictions on when We were allowed to get high and under what circumstances ...

but it only did so much.
It could only ever do so much.

We're recovering now, no longer craving it, but that’s almost entirely because We're employed now and the abusers who were in Our home are no longer here.

Addiction is a terrible beast, especially one where the physical and lasting downsides are minimal, the drug is cheap, and sobriety is so unbearably painful that you feel like death is preferable in every way.

We say this because We believe this topic should be more openly talked about in general, and that despite the shame, the support of a community is powerful and requires this kind of openness.

If you are suffering from addiction, please seek the support of your community. Your loved ones, people who care about you.

Most importantly: believe that they care about you. Even if your instinct is that they don’t for any reason, have blind faith that they do.

You don’t need to seek a professional or a government or an institution or insurance... but you do need your community.

With love,
🧭 Northstar

Life is made of positive moments and negative moments. Both are eventualities. However, by worrying about the possible future negative moments, you are ridding yourself of the positive moments
