Согласно заявлению посольства Марокко в Буркина-Фасо, водители пропали 18 января около 10:00 утра между городом Дори на северо-востоке Буркина-Фасо и городом Тера на западе Нигера.

По сообщениям местных СМИ, водители выбрали маршрут, проходящий через известную опасную зону, где действуют террористические ячейки и вооруженные группировки, известные мародерством и разбоями на дорогах. Как известно, колонны грузовиков, пересекающие границы Буркина-Фасо, особенно между указанными городами, идут под охраной армии Буркина-Фасо, однако марокканцы по каким-то причинам решили проехаться сами.

На данный момент посольство Королевства Марокко в Уагадугу связалось с властями Буркина-Фасо, которые начали операцию по поиску четырех пропавших водителей.
