The Appalachian Mountain Range is over 1 billion years old. That's roughly one quarter of the earth's entire life span. In the time of the super-continent, Pangea, the Appalachian Mountains and the Scottish Highlands were once connected as part of the same mountain range, known as the Central Pangean Mountains. Remnants of this massive mountain range include the Appalachian Mountains of North America, the Scottish Highlands, Ireland, The Scandinavian Mountains, parts of Greenland, and the Little Atlas Mountains of Morocco. At it's peak, this mountain range was as tall as Mt. Everest. (Pictured are the Appalachian Mountains and Scottish Highlands.)🤍💫

"Russians are really disconnected from the reality of what happening to their country," Andrey said. "So Telegram has become essential for understanding what's going on to the Russian-speaking world." Asked about its stance on disinformation, Telegram spokesperson Remi Vaughn told AFP: "As noted by our CEO, the sheer volume of information being shared on channels makes it extremely difficult to verify, so it's important that users double-check what they read." In 2014, Pavel Durov fled the country after allies of the Kremlin took control of the social networking site most know just as VK. Russia's intelligence agency had asked Durov to turn over the data of anti-Kremlin protesters. Durov refused to do so. Official government accounts have also spread fake fact checks. An official Twitter account for the Russia diplomatic mission in Geneva shared a fake debunking video claiming without evidence that "Western and Ukrainian media are creating thousands of fake news on Russia every day." The video, which has amassed almost 30,000 views, offered a "how-to" spot misinformation. Emerson Brooking, a disinformation expert at the Atlantic Council's Digital Forensic Research Lab, said: "Back in the Wild West period of content moderation, like 2014 or 2015, maybe they could have gotten away with it, but it stands in marked contrast with how other companies run themselves today."
