Ранее в отношении чиновника было возбуждено уголовное дело за использование заведомо подложных документов для получения компенсационных выплат. Комиссия по соблюдению требований к служебному поведению и урегулированию конфликта интересов при НГСД рекомендовала применить к Алексею Ермолаеву меру ответственности в виде досрочного прекращения полномочий депутата.
Алексей Ермолаев является членом Всероссийской политической партии «Единая Россия», а также председателем попечительского совета Чувашской республиканской общественной организации «Военно-патриотическое сообщество «Вымпел». 26 октября 2020 года был избран главой города Новочебоксарска решением Новочебоксарского городского Собрания депутатов Чувашской Республики.

Ukrainian officials, in potential violation of the Geneva Convention, have shared imagery of dead and captured Russian soldiers on the platform.
