Решение об установлении этой памятной даты было принято Госдумой России в октябре 2014 года. В этот день в 1966 году, в ознаменование 25-ой годовщины разгрома немецких войск под Москвой, прах неизвестного солдата был торжественно захоронен у стен Московского Кремля в Александрийском саду.
Сегодня мы вспоминаем солдат, не только погибших в Великой Отечественной войне, но и всех пропавших без вести во время войн и военных конфликтов.
