В составе поезда 12 вагонов производства КНР, ранее не эксплуатировавшихся на российских железных дорогах: 6 купейных вагонов, 2 СВ, 1 штабной вагон, 1 багажный вагон и 2 вагона-электростанции. Поезд сопровождают технические специалисты как с китайской, так и с российской сторон.
По итогам опытной поездки, которая продлится с 25 февраля по 11 марта, будет принято решение о запуске поезда Пекин – Москва на регулярной основе.
