Начнем со второй картины. Так он видит русскую зиму из Франции. Тут тот же кустодиевский мир праздника, но только еще более театрализованный. Или, если быть точнее, по-другому театрализованный. Там, где у Кустодиева закругления, тут наоборот заострение и утончения.

А так видит ее из России. Тут как раз саврасовский мир безжизненного пространства: одинокий дом, серый частокол забора, серое пространство вокруг. Тут тоже есть конь и сани, но никакого ощущения лихости. Время на этой картине как бы остановилось. Это не эпизод, это не момент — это Русская зима, долгая, бесконечная. Тоскливая. Настоящая.
