The Manbij Military Council successfully foiled all attacks launched by Turkish occupation mercenaries, backed by Turkish heavy artillery and airstrikes, on villages south and east of Manbij, eliminating and wounding many of the mercenaries and destroying numerous military vehicles. During the violent clashes that erupted this morning near the town of Abu Qalqal, southeast of Manbij and in the northern countryside of the Tishreen Dam, 14 Turkish occupation mercenaries were eliminated, and dozens more were wounded. Furthermore, two armored vehicles, two vehicles equipped with DShK machine guns, and two motorcycles belonging to the mercenaries were destroyed. All mercenaries’ attacks were effectively thwarted. Footage documentation of our forces destroying mercenaries’ vehicles will be released soon.

At its heart, Telegram is little more than a messaging app like WhatsApp or Signal. But it also offers open channels that enable a single user, or a group of users, to communicate with large numbers in a method similar to a Twitter account. This has proven to be both a blessing and a curse for Telegram and its users, since these channels can be used for both good and ill. Right now, as Wired reports, the app is a key way for Ukrainians to receive updates from the government during the invasion. Oleksandra Matviichuk, a Kyiv-based lawyer and head of the Center for Civil Liberties, called Durov’s position "very weak," and urged concrete improvements. DFR Lab sent the image through Microsoft Azure's Face Verification program and found that it was "highly unlikely" that the person in the second photo was the same as the first woman. The fact-checker Logically AI also found the claim to be false. The woman, Olena Kurilo, was also captured in a video after the airstrike and shown to have the injuries. On February 27th, Durov posted that Channels were becoming a source of unverified information and that the company lacks the ability to check on their veracity. He urged users to be mistrustful of the things shared on Channels, and initially threatened to block the feature in the countries involved for the length of the war, saying that he didn’t want Telegram to be used to aggravate conflict or incite ethnic hatred. He did, however, walk back this plan when it became clear that they had also become a vital communications tool for Ukrainian officials and citizens to help coordinate their resistance and evacuations. Lastly, the web previews of t.me links have been given a new look, adding chat backgrounds and design elements from the fully-features Telegram Web client.
