После парада хоккеистов начались игры. «Прогресс», лидируемый блестящим игроком Бобровым (воспитанником ленинградского «Динамо»), выигрывает 6:0 (4:0) у водников; динамовцы со счетом 11:0 выигрывают у «Медика», а «Спартак» и «Локомотив», несмотря на ничьи (0:0), благодаря выигрышу в эстафете выходят в полуфиналы. Здесь «Прогресс» побеждает (4:0) «Локомотив», а «Динамо» - спартаковцев (2:0).
Финал. Открывает счет Аксенов («Прогресс»). Штрафной удар, и счет 1:1. Перерыв. Один за другим Бобров вбивает еще три мяча в ворота «Динамо», и «Прогресс» побеждает со счетом 4:1. Через несколько дней команда еще раз подтвердила свой класс, выиграв 4:1 у сборной города.
