Торжественная церемония открытия прошла у Холма Славы. Она приурочена к памятной дате – именно 15 февраля 1989 года завершился вывод советских войск из Афганистана.
Как рассказал руководитель Судакского отделения «Боевое братство» Геннадий Маркоза, идея воздвигнуть памятник появилась ещё 28 лет назад.
Строительство памятника началось 30 апреля 2023 года. Мемориал выполнили из гранита.

Two days after Russia invaded Ukraine, an account on the Telegram messaging platform posing as President Volodymyr Zelenskiy urged his armed forces to surrender. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has been a driving force in markets for the past few weeks. Some people used the platform to organize ahead of the storming of the U.S. Capitol in January 2021, and last month Senator Mark Warner sent a letter to Durov urging him to curb Russian information operations on Telegram. Telegram, which does little policing of its content, has also became a hub for Russian propaganda and misinformation. Many pro-Kremlin channels have become popular, alongside accounts of journalists and other independent observers.
