Приговор оказался мягче, чем требовал прокурор, настаивавший на шести годах колонии. Также суд отказал в компенсации морального вреда отцу Далера Худжановиддину Бобиеву, который требовал взыскать с Наумова 5 млн рублей.
Следствие утверждало, что военный истязал ребенка с особой жестокостью: бил его электрошокером, заставлял приседать и обливал ледяной водой. Сам Наумов говорил, что ребенок по его требованию приседал лишь несколько минут, все остальные эпизоды насилия подсудимый отрицал.
