Булгаков идет в кино! Два года назад в Центре «Зотов» «Киноартель 1895» проводила лабораторию, которая называлась «Школа кинозрителя 1920-х» — мы показывали хиты столетней давности и рассказывали о том, кто и как тогда рекламировал и смотрел кино. С тех пор мы иногда продолжаем делиться чем-нибудь новеньким на эту дорогую нашим сердцам тему — и на этой неделе нашим спутником-кинозрителем будет Михаил Булгаков. В пятницу, 29 ноября, основатели артели Станислав Дединский и Наталья Рябчикова прочтут в Научно-просветительском центре Музея Булгакова на Арбате лекцию (с картинками!) о том, какие фильмы соревновались за внимание писателя и его друзей, коллег и знакомых в самом центре Москвы в течение всего одного месяца — в мае 1924 года. Какое это было пиршество для глаз (и как увлекательно было готовить эту лекцию) — можете судить сами по избранным иллюстрациям.

Overall, extreme levels of fear in the market seems to have morphed into something more resembling concern. For example, the Cboe Volatility Index fell from its 2022 peak of 36, which it hit Monday, to around 30 on Friday, a sign of easing tensions. Meanwhile, while the price of WTI crude oil slipped from Sunday’s multiyear high $130 of barrel to $109 a pop. Markets have been expecting heavy restrictions on Russian oil, some of which the U.S. has already imposed, and that would reduce the global supply and bring about even more burdensome inflation. At the start of 2018, the company attempted to launch an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) which would enable it to enable payments (and earn the cash that comes from doing so). The initial signals were promising, especially given Telegram’s user base is already fairly crypto-savvy. It raised an initial tranche of cash – worth more than a billion dollars – to help develop the coin before opening sales to the public. Unfortunately, third-party sales of coins bought in those initial fundraising rounds raised the ire of the SEC, which brought the hammer down on the whole operation. In 2020, officials ordered Telegram to pay a fine of $18.5 million and hand back much of the cash that it had raised. The picture was mixed overseas. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index fell 1.6%, under pressure from U.S. regulatory scrutiny on New York-listed Chinese companies. Stocks were more buoyant in Europe, where Frankfurt’s DAX surged 1.4%. He floated the idea of restricting the use of Telegram in Ukraine and Russia, a suggestion that was met with fierce opposition from users. Shortly after, Durov backed off the idea. Under the Sebi Act, the regulator has the power to carry out search and seizure of books, registers, documents including electronics and digital devices from any person associated with the securities market.
