الأفكار تتناسل كما يتناسل البشر، فمن الصعب موتُ الفكرة العلمية وانقضاؤها وذهابها بالكلية، نعم قد تنقرض الكتلة الاجتماعية المُعبّرة عن أفكار معينة، ولكن تلك الآراء ستوجد في محيط آخر وفي عصر آخر ويتبناها أشخاص آخرون بنفس العناوين الأولى أو بعناوين أخرى جديدة سواء أضافوا إليها مِسحة من التعديل أم لا.
وفهمُ هذا المبدأ لعله يُخفّف الحِدّة بين المتخالفين، خصوصا إذا كانت هذه الأفكار هي مسائل دقيقة لا قطْع فيها أصلا، وقد قرَّر الإمام الرازي رحمه الله في بعض كتبه أنه ما من احتمالٍ في مسألة من مسائل أصول الدين إلا وقد ذهب إليه بعض المتقدمين، فالأصل المتفق عليه من تفاصيل أمور العقائد قلَّما يُوجَد أصلا.
