والأدلة من هذه الآية على أن المراد بها ستر الوجه وتغطيته من وجوهٍ، وهي: الوجه الأول: معنىٰ الجلباب في الآية هو معناه في لسان العرب: اللباس الواسع الذي يُغَطِّي جميع البدن، وهو بمعنى: الملاءة أو العباءة، فتلبسه المرأة فوقَ ثيابها من أعلى رأسها مُدنية ومرخية له على وجهها وسائر جسدها، وما على جسدها من زينة مكتسبة، ممتدًّا إلى ستر قدميها. فثبت بهذا حجب الوجه بالجلباب كسائر البدن لغةً وشرعًا.
