In 2016, Forbes’ Michael Solomon described Pavel Durov (pictured, below) as the “Mark Zuckerberg of Russia.” It is unclear who runs the account, although Russia's official Ministry of Foreign Affairs Twitter account promoted the Telegram channel on Saturday and claimed it was operated by "a group of experts & journalists." In the past, it was noticed that through bulk SMSes, investors were induced to invest in or purchase the stocks of certain listed companies.

新闻联播（文字版）《新闻联播》，是中国中央电视台每日在北京时间晚間19:00播出的一個重点时政新聞節目。该节目于1978年1月1日启播，现于中央电视台综合频道、中央电视台国防军事频道、中央电视台新闻频道晚间19时并机首播。中国大陆省级地方卫视，以及绝大多数地市级、县级电视台的“（新闻）综合频道”也会同步转播，中国国际广播电台环球资讯广播以及部分地方广播电台也会转播该节目。新闻联播在中国大陆拥有重要影響力，被称为“中国政坛的风向标”。
