الهه محمدی خبرنگار روزنامه هم‌میهن و نیلوفر حامدی خبرنگار روزنامه شرق که پس از کشته‌شدن ژینا امینی به‌دلیل اطلاع‌رسانی درباره او، بازداشت شده بودند، در شعبه ۱۵ دادگاه انقلاب اسلامی تهران با اتهامات «همکاری با دولت خارجی متخاصم آمریکا»، «اجتماع و تبانی برای ارتکاب جرم بر ضد امنیت کشور» و «فعالیت تبلیغی علیه نظام» پس از گذشت ۱۴ ماه از بازداشت موقت غیرقانونی، به ۱۲ سال (۶ سال قابل اجرا) و ۱۳ سال (۷ سال قابل اجرا) حبس محکوم شده بودند.
به گفته وکلایشان، این دو روزنامه نگار در نهایت پس از ۱۷ ماه بازداشت در تاریخ ۲۴ دی ۱۴۰۲، با صدور قرار وثیقه صد میلیارد ریالی از سوی دادگاه تجدیدنظر استان تهران موقتاً از زندان آزاد شدند.
پس از تجدیدنظرخواهی صورت گرفته از دادنامه بدوی، طی حکم قطعی صادره از دادگاه تجدیدنظر استان تهران، نیلوفر حامدی و الهه محمدی از اتهام «همکاری با دولت خارجی متخاصم» تبرئه شدند و در نهایت این روزنامه‌نگار درباره سایر اتهامات وارده «عفو» و پرونده آنها بسته شد.
