«Летовье» (1992) и «Проклятая земля» (1996) — первые полнометражные хорроры, снятые на якутской земле. Молодые режиссеры обращались к местному фольклору, формируя собственный киноязык и изобретая жанр практически с нуля. Пионерское якутское кино исследовало мистические пространства, существующие на границе живых и мертвых — малые села, пустынные улусы. О рождении независимого кино в Якутии и проблеме утерянных пленок расскажет Глеб Сегеда, один из авторов проекта From Outer Space.
