Этот праздник утвердился на Руси в середине XII в. при благоверном князе Андрее Боголюбском и почитался как символ особого покровительства Богоматери Русской земле. Стали появляться Покровские храмы, древнейшим из которых является знаменитая церковь Покрова на Нерли.

А мы побывали в этом прекрасном храме во время автомобильного крестного хода по историческому маршруту перенесения мощей святого князя Александра Невского из Владимира в Санкт-Петербург.
