امرنس را از این کتاب بردم ساکن همان محلهٔ خیالی ذهنم کردم که شخصیت‌های محبوبم از کتاب‌های مختلف در آن با هم زندگی می‌کنند. مثلا نلی از رنج‌کشیدگان و خوارشدگان آنجاست، استونر از استونر و مومو از زندگی در پیش رو.
ماگدا سابو، آن‌طور که گشته‌ام و شنیده‌ام، اثر بد که هیچ، حتی اثر متوسط هم ندارد و تمام آثارش درخشان هستند؛ اما نوشتن همین کتاب در و خلق شخصیتی مثل امرنس به‌تنهایی برای این که یک نویسنده جایی را تا همیشه در گوشهٔ ذهن آدم به نام خود کند کافی است.
امیدوارم کتاب‌های بعدی سابو مثل خیابان کاتالین، ترانهٔ ایزا، ابیگیل و سایر آثارش را هرچه زودتر بخوانم.
