Первый замруководителя Администрации президента РФ Сергей Кириенко проинспектировал готовность аэропорта Абхазии к открытию летом 2025 года в ходе рабочей встречи с главой координационного штаба по вопросам реконструкции и строительства аэропорта Бадрой Гунба.
Зафиксированы: финал работ по бетонированию ВПП, предфинал по устройству светосигнального оборудования, маркировке и планировке летного поля, успешно проведённые лётные проверки.
Соглашение о государственно-частном партнёрстве по реконструкции аэропорта Сухум было заключено в ноябре 2023 года. В ходе встречи Бадра Гунба попросил Кириенко помочь организовать постоянное авиасообщение между Россией и Абхазией до начала летнего сезона 2025 года. И оказать материальную помощь школам и сёлам республики в честь 80-летия Победы в Великой Отечественной войне.
