On this Dominion Day, we honor the history and heritage that shaped this great nation we call home. From the early days of Confederation to the present, Canada has stood firm on a foundation of resilience, determination, and a pioneering spirit.
As celebrations unfold across the land, let us pause to reflect on the traditions and values that have guided usโour commitment to unity, perseverance, and the flag that once flew proudly: the original Red Ensign.
Canada was built by the hands and hearts of manyโEnglish pioneers who laid the groundwork, the Scottish with their tireless work ethic, the Irish with their eternal yearning for freedom, and the French with their enduring commitment to liberty.
May this day be filled with pride in our storied past and hope for a future that reaffirms the strength of our British-French foundations.
Pro Patria. Happy Dominion Day to all!

On July 1st, 1867, the British North America Act came into effect, uniting the British colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Canada into the Dominion of Canada.
The terms of the union of these colonies were determined by the 36 men who took part in the Charlottetown, Quebec, and London Conferences.
As you can see in the images above, there was a distinct lack of "diversity" at these conferences.
Canada is a European Nation, it was founded by European men, for European people.
Today we honour the legacy of the men who forged a Nation.
Hail the Fathers of Confederation!

An Unexpected Ghost -
I remember the time when this was released. I was in high school and it was a tacky, cheesy beer commercial. We rolled our eyes at it and went back to chasing girls.
Seeing this again, decades later - I'm still hit with a feint bit of that tacky, cheesy cringe I remember but there's something else that came with it that was new.
A few seconds into the video, the footage, the clips, the memories started to come back. I'm watching this goofy, over the top beer commercial but I'm also suddenly and very effectively reminded of what it felt like to be alive, here, back then.
It felt like watching an old family video of your tacky, cheesy, Aunt. She was kind of annoying but you miss her. Looking back, it's clear she really loved you. But then you remember; that somebody killed her.
That somebody is still here.
And all grown up now - so are we.

Organisations grow not only by the efforts of the Leaders, but by the efforts of those who refuse to be remembered as mere spectators.
