Мой любимый момент романа — это когда он описывает свои рождественские традиции:
'So what do you do on Christmas Day?' I ask suddenly.
He looks up at me with his frightened ferret eyes. He slides back on his elbows with visible struggle then turns on to his side. He slowly heaves himself up, refusing the offer of my hand for help. He stands upright and dusts the pine needles from his jumper.
'I wash all the curtains,' he says. 'It's a job that only needs to be done once a year, and I always remember to do it on the 25th of December.'
'Anything else?' I ask pleadingly.
'I eat a fish pie,' he says. 'And watch Creature from the Black Lagoon.'
