Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky
(1817-1900)
March 6 is the birthday of Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564).

A unique Italian sculptor, painter, architect, master of the High Renaissance and early Baroque period.

Interesting facts about the artist:

He was born in the family of a nobleman and was the second child in a large family. After the death of his mother at the age of 6, his father put the boy in foster care, where he began working with clay and paints.

A fellow student broke the artist's nose and he would walk around with a crooked nose and gnuse when speaking for the rest of his days.
The 5.18 meter tall statue of David was created from a solid piece of marble that was considered spoiled and unfit for work.

He worked alone on the frescoes on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel for more than 4 years, lying on his back on scaffolding from which he almost did not get off.

Did not like to sign works, the only exception was the Pieta. People didn't believe the young artist, so he engraved his name on the Virgin Mary's belt. His "signature" in painting was a depiction of himself.

He was not married, but loved to write love letters and sonnets.

He led a modest lifestyle and avoided luxury, despite his wealth and fame.

He was a long-lived man of his time. Died at the age of 88, while working until his last day.
