Роман Филипов был сбит боевиками"Хейят Тахрир аш-Шам" 3 февраля 2018 года в окрестностях города Саракиб в сирийской провинции Идлиб.

Уже на земле Роман отстреливался от бородачей из Стечкина, был тяжело ранен, по итогу подорвал себя и приблизившихся гранатой со словами "Это вам за пацанов!"
