نیروگاه ۸۰۰ مگاواتی "الخرسه" در غرب دوحه در کشور قطر به بهره برداری رسید، یکی از بزرگترین نیروگاههای خورشیدی در منطقه است.
این نیروگاه در مساحت ۱۰ کیلومتر مربع احداث شده، حدود یک میلیون و ۸۰۰ هزار پنل خورشیدی را در خود جای داده و مجهز به فناوری دنبال کننده حرکت خورشید از شرق به غرب است. با توجه به مزایای بیشمار انرژی خورشیدی، ساخت نیروگاههای جدید خورشیدی در جهان رشد بسیار بالایی داشته است.
علاوه بر این مزرعه خورشیدی سین کیانگ در چین به تازگی با ظرفیت ۵ گیگاوات (پنج هزار مگاوات) به بزرگترین مزرعه خورشیدی جهان تبدیل شده است. این نیروگاه خورشیدی عظیم که در روز دوشنبه ۳ ژوئن ۲۰۲۴ به طور رسمی به شبکه متصل شد. لازم به ذکر است مساحت ۴ میلیون هکتاری کویر لوت در ایران ظرفیت راه اندازی ۳ میلیون مگاوات برق خورشیدی که با این ظرفیت برق کل خاورمیانه را می‌توان تامین کرد./رسانه تخصصی اقتصادانرژی
