С 2023 по 2025 год он переводил таких "студентов" с курса на курс, хотя многие из них даже не знали, где находится столица России. Это позволяло получать средства из бюджета и искусственно повышать рейтинг университета, при этом ректор не отказывал себе в премиях.

Ущерб от действий Воротникова оценили почти в 1 миллион рублей, в связи с чем возбуждено уголовное дело.
