Քոչարյանը պատասխանել էր, որ Երևանն առաջարկել է հաստատել դիվանագիտական հարաբերություններ, բացել սահմանները և երկխոսություն սկսել երկու երկրների ու ժողովուրդների միջև, բայց Ցեղասպանության իրողությունը ո՛չ մեր, ոչ էլ Թուրքիայի կառավարությունն իրավասու չէ պատմաբաններին հանձնարարելու․ դա իրողություն է։
