К сожалению, изначальный замысел Шехтеля был искажён поздними надстройками. В 1913 году был возведён шестой этаж, а в конце 1920-х нахлобучили седьмой. После революции банк Рябушинского был закрыт. В начале 1920-х здесь размещался Госплан СССР. В середине 1930-х Госплан переехал в Дом Совета труда и обороны, что на Охотном ряду. Сейчас в бывшем банкирском доме Министерство финансов РФ.
