В семи российских школах учителя делали шапочки из фольги и фотографировались для отчета в рамках акции «Шлем Отечества». Письмо от имени партии «Единая Россия» с требованием провести акцию разослал по учебным заведениям акционист-пранкер из Беларуси Владислав Бохан.

В письме от имени воронежского отделения «Единой России» автор пранка называл акцию «патриотическим мастер-классом», а одной из целей — повышение навыков педагогов «в области практических занятий по гражданской обороне» и умения работать «с подручными материалами для изготовления примитивных средств защиты» от облучения космическими спутниками НАТО.
