С началом СВО подразделение его бригады выполняло боевые задачи на Киевском направлении, штурмовало аэродром Гостомель и билось в районе ЧАЭС. 4 октября 2022 выполняя задачу по уничтожению опорного пункта ВСУ группа Эдуарда попала в засаду и приняла бой. Прикрывая эвакуацию трехсотых Эдуард Норполов получил тяжелое ранение, продолжая вести бой, получил второе ранение в область сердца.
Старшему лейтенанту Эдуарду Норполову было присвоено звание Героя России посмертно.
