Балканская война 1877 года. Святитель Феофан Затворник, у себя в келье в Вышенском монастыре близ Шацка. На столе у затворника — карты военных действий. Своим корреспондентам он пишет следующее:
«Все такие мысли прямо ведут к решению: хочешь, не хочешь, — а ступай воевать, мать Русь Православная...
Но ведь народа у нас достанет, и деньжонок пособерём по грошику, и генералы найдутся. Чего же тут трусить? у турок конечно будет множество англичан, венгерцев, поляков и других уродов. Но все же это не армия какая, а подспорье. Неужто Англия открыто станет за турок? И неужто Австрия к ней пристанет? Ничего. Поколотим и их. У Австрии возьмём Галицию, восстановим Чешское королевство, отделим прочих славян от венгров…
...Слышно, что и в Питере, и у вас в Москве, не мало лиц, которые не благоволят к войне, и даже к самому заступничеству нашему. Это должно быть выродки какие-нибудь. Ибо я не вижу и не слышу, чтоб хоть где-нибудь было какое колебание в народе и среди всех провинциалов. Есть и тут лица с "высшими взглядами"; но и это всё грошёвый народ...»

The S&P 500 fell 1.3% to 4,204.36, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.7% to 32,943.33. The Dow posted a fifth straight weekly loss — its longest losing streak since 2019. The Nasdaq Composite tumbled 2.2% to 12,843.81. Though all three indexes opened in the green, stocks took a turn after a new report showed U.S. consumer sentiment deteriorated more than expected in early March as consumers' inflation expectations soared to the highest since 1981. At the start of 2018, the company attempted to launch an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) which would enable it to enable payments (and earn the cash that comes from doing so). The initial signals were promising, especially given Telegram’s user base is already fairly crypto-savvy. It raised an initial tranche of cash – worth more than a billion dollars – to help develop the coin before opening sales to the public. Unfortunately, third-party sales of coins bought in those initial fundraising rounds raised the ire of the SEC, which brought the hammer down on the whole operation. In 2020, officials ordered Telegram to pay a fine of $18.5 million and hand back much of the cash that it had raised. The next bit isn’t clear, but Durov reportedly claimed that his resignation, dated March 21st, was an April Fools’ prank. TechCrunch implies that it was a matter of principle, but it’s hard to be clear on the wheres, whos and whys. Similarly, on April 17th, the Moscow Times quoted Durov as saying that he quit the company after being pressured to reveal account details about Ukrainians protesting the then-president Viktor Yanukovych. What distinguishes the app from competitors is its use of what's known as channels: Public or private feeds of photos and videos that can be set up by one person or an organization. The channels have become popular with on-the-ground journalists, aid workers and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who broadcasts on a Telegram channel. The channels can be followed by an unlimited number of people. Unlike Facebook, Twitter and other popular social networks, there is no advertising on Telegram and the flow of information is not driven by an algorithm.
