بنظر می رسد پشت این طلاق نقشه هایی وجود دارد که شاید بتواند همسر اسد با بازگشت به انگلیس برای درمان سرطان خود ادعا کند که هیچوقت در جنایات شوهرش سهیم نبوده و بدین دلیل هم طلاق گرفته است.
او با طلاق می تواند ظاهرا نشان دهد که با بشار اسد همدست نبوده و ممکن است بدین طریق مورد تعقیب دادگاه های قضایی و جنایی در انگلیس قرار نگیرد.
