Депутат Законодательного собрания Ленобласти Андрей Гардашников предложил запретить продажу алкоголя на время Великого поста.
По его мнению, мера поможет гражданам воздержаться от употребления спиртного на 48 дней. Гардашников, который сам отказался от алкоголя два года назад, считает, что за это время многие ощутят «прелесть жизни без спиртного» и после окончания поста будут практиковать трезвость.
Депутат также выступил за распространение запрета на продажу алкоголя во время других постов, например, мусульманский Рамадан.
