حكى ابن قيم الجوزية رحمه الله في بدائع الفوائد (١٣٩٤/٤)، عن مسائل مُثنّى ابن جامع أنه سأل الإمام أحمد رحمه الله ورضي عنه: ما تقول فيمن باع دابّةً بنَساء، هل يشتريها من صاحبها ... بأقل مما باعها، إذا كان قد هزلَها وعمل عليها؟ فقال: فيه اختلاف، ولم يُجِزه ... هكذا ضُبطت في النشرة المحققة، والذي يظهر لي أنها تُضبط بفتح الياء وضم الجيم "يَجُزه"، أي: لم يتجاوز أن قال: فيه اختلاف، والسياقُ يدل عليه، ويؤيده: أن ابن مفلح رحمه الله حكى الروايةَ في الفروع بقوله: وتوقّف في رواية مُثنّى(*) فيما إذا نقص في نفسه. والله الموفق

The last couple days have exemplified that uncertainty. On Thursday, news emerged that talks in Turkey between the Russia and Ukraine yielded no positive result. But on Friday, Reuters reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin said there had been some “positive shifts” in talks between the two sides. The gold standard of encryption, known as end-to-end encryption, where only the sender and person who receives the message are able to see it, is available on Telegram only when the Secret Chat function is enabled. Voice and video calls are also completely encrypted. Right now the digital security needs of Russians and Ukrainians are very different, and they lead to very different caveats about how to mitigate the risks associated with using Telegram. For Ukrainians in Ukraine, whose physical safety is at risk because they are in a war zone, digital security is probably not their highest priority. They may value access to news and communication with their loved ones over making sure that all of their communications are encrypted in such a manner that they are indecipherable to Telegram, its employees, or governments with court orders. As the war in Ukraine rages, the messaging app Telegram has emerged as the go-to place for unfiltered live war updates for both Ukrainian refugees and increasingly isolated Russians alike.
