Начавшиеся самые крупные за всю историю Республики реставрационные работы в Софии включают и подземную ее часть. В течение одного года планируют очистить и укрепить сеть забытых подземных туннелей, подвалов, коридоров длиной около километра и трехкомнатную подземную гробницу.
А потом все это великолепие хотят открыть и для туристов.

Все эти коридоры - ровесники Софии, а захоронения еще старше и датируются 4 веком.

Сейчас эти тоннели настолько узкие, что там может проползти только один человек, и требуется электрическое освещение. Ученые считают, что эти помещения использовались как элемент системы водоснабжения города, отвода дождевой воды, вентиляции и хранения.
