The British Daily Star and Independent wrote about this. They write that an outbreak of a new human metapneumovirus (hMPV) has been recorded. Taiwanese media report a high mortality rate of this variety (43%) and plans to introduce a state of emergency in a number of provinces of the PRC.

In China, new strains have not been officially confirmed, nor has high mortality. But they have acknowledged that there is a seasonal outbreak of respiratory diseases, and studies have shown positive results for the influenza virus, human metapneumovirus, and rhinovirus.

In particular, the incidence of metapneumovirus is increasing among children aged 14 years and younger, with the greatest impact in the northern provinces.

Metapneumovirus has been known for a long time. It causes symptoms similar to those of the common cold and flu. The disease is usually mild, although it can sometimes lead to complications such as pneumonia, especially in infants, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems.

The enemy is bringing additional forces into battle following the vanguard, which has suffered losses, which indicates a planned large-scale attempt at a breakthrough.

Now we can state that despite the deployment of quite serious forces in this area, the enemy has not yet achieved a deep breakthrough , having become bogged down in battles for the advanced positions of the RF Armed Forces.

If this was the main attack by the main forces (which seems unlikely), then its result at this stage looks weak , especially in comparison with the deep breakthroughs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in August 2024, when the enemy effortlessly slipped through the leaky Russian defense.

Now we are witnessing a frontal attack on an already formed front line and prepared defensive positions, which, given the modern nature of combat operations, usually leads to heavy losses during a breakthrough and consolidation. In such a situation, the decision will be made by introducing additional reserves .

If the enemy is concerned about their presence and plans to develop its attack further, then we will face heavy, long battles, since the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ plan will then include at least a breakthrough to Bolshoye Soldatskoye , which will lead to the loss of a significant zone of control around it.

If not, then all acquisitions by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in this area may be limited to several small settlements on the front line.
