ينكر بعض الأشعرية على بعض السلفية أنهم يقولون ما تريدون بالجسم، ثم تجدهم يقولون في مسألة العلو: ما تريدون بالعلو؟ علو المكانة أو علو القهر أو علو المكان! وبعض السلفية ينكرون على خصمهم أنهم يرددون الاحتمال في لفظ العلو، والحال أن السلفية يرددون الاحتمال في لفظ الجسم مع أنهم يعلمون أنهم يخاطبون أشعريًا، وأن الجسم عندهم هو المؤلف وأقله التألف من جوهرين كما قاله الجويني وغيره، أو حادث متحيز بالذات قابل للقسمة (= مؤلف) كما يؤخذ من الموقف وشرحه؛ وعليه فلا شائبة توجب ترديد الاحتمال، وليسوا في حال تصنيف يخاطبون سائر الطوائف ليرددوا الاحتمال لعموم المخاطب.
