Осип Мончаловский основал и редактировал журналы: «Беседа» и «Страхопуд». Первый журнал был посвящен вопросам галицко-русской и русской литературы, а второй бичевал польские и австрийские злоупотребления и беспощадно высмеивал ренегатов Галицкой Руси и её врагов.
Осип Мончаловский прожил недолго, но оставил заметный след в родной культуре.
