اخیراً مرکز مطالعات اقتصادی مونیخ گزارشی پژوهشی دربارۀ تأثیر تحریم‌های اقتصادی بر طبقۀ متوسط ایران منتشر کرده است. براساس این پژوهش، تشدید تحریم‌های اقتصادی علیه ایران از سال ۲۰۱۲ از سه مسیر مختلف بر طبقۀ متوسط ایران و درنتیجه افزایش فقر تأثیر گذاشته است: ۱. فشار بر نظام مالی و صادرات نفت، ۲. گسترش تحریم‌ها علیه شرکت‌های غیرآمریکایی در زمینۀ تجارت، خرید نفت، و سرمایه‌گذاری در حوزۀ انرژی ایران، ۳. اقدامات اتحادیۀ اروپا در زمینۀ ممنوعیت تراکنش‌های بانکی. این فشارها باعث شده تا کیفیت حکمرانی و کارایی خدمات دولتی در حوزه‌های مختلف نیز با شیب تندی افت کند. همچنین اقداماتی نظیر دورزدن تحریم‌ها و ایجاد شرکت‌های پنهانی به افزایش فساد، اختلاس، اتلاف منابع، و بالارفتن هزینه‌های تجاری و مبادلاتی منجر شده است. براساس این گزارش، در فاصلۀ سال‌های ۱۹۹۶ تا ۲۰۱۲ سهم طبقۀ متوسط از جمعیت ایران از حدود ۳۰ درصد به حدود ۶۵ درصد رسیده بود و اگر تحریم‌ها رخ نمی‌داد، تا سال ۲۰۲۰ بیش از ۷۵ درصد جمعیت ایران جزو طبقۀ متوسط بودند.

All three indexes began the day with gains before selling off. Telegram, which does little policing of its content, has also became a hub for Russian propaganda and misinformation. Many pro-Kremlin channels have become popular, alongside accounts of journalists and other independent observers. DFR Lab sent the image through Microsoft Azure's Face Verification program and found that it was "highly unlikely" that the person in the second photo was the same as the first woman. The fact-checker Logically AI also found the claim to be false. The woman, Olena Kurilo, was also captured in a video after the airstrike and shown to have the injuries. Right now the digital security needs of Russians and Ukrainians are very different, and they lead to very different caveats about how to mitigate the risks associated with using Telegram. For Ukrainians in Ukraine, whose physical safety is at risk because they are in a war zone, digital security is probably not their highest priority. They may value access to news and communication with their loved ones over making sure that all of their communications are encrypted in such a manner that they are indecipherable to Telegram, its employees, or governments with court orders. Given the pro-privacy stance of the platform, it’s taken as a given that it’ll be used for a number of reasons, not all of them good. And Telegram has been attached to a fair few scandals related to terrorism, sexual exploitation and crime. Back in 2015, Vox described Telegram as “ISIS’ app of choice,” saying that the platform’s real use is the ability to use channels to distribute material to large groups at once. Telegram has acted to remove public channels affiliated with terrorism, but Pavel Durov reiterated that he had no business snooping on private conversations.
