i wish ai didn't turn out to suck so bad. bc the concepts and ideas underlying it are all so cool
like. generative adversarial networks. you want an ai to generate convincing images, so you train a different ai to spot the fakes, and then you train the first ai to fool the second? and if it gets too good, then you can use the output from the first one to train the second one?? that sounds way too stupid to possibly be a good solution. and yet it's a common enough technique to have a three-letter acronym and a zillion dollars of investment. genuinely cool on the theoretical level
