В ходе следствия обвиняемый полностью признал вину и сотрудничал со следствием. Уголовное дело расследовалось по ст. 275 УК РФ (государственная измена).
Учитывая имеющиеся по делу смягчающие обстоятельства, суд Еврейской автономной области при назначении наказания фигуранту дела применил положение ст. 64 УК РФ (назначение более мягкого наказания, чем предусмотрено за данное преступление).
