Товар следовал из Швейцарии в адрес 40-летнего москвича и был обнаружен инспекторами при таможенном досмотре грузового места. В картонной коробке находилось 19 полотен, одно из которых оказалось незадекларированным.
Экспертиза установила, что холст «Петушиные бои» размером 56x46 см был создан неизвестным мастером более трёхсот лет назад и представляет собой культурную ценность.
Заказчик пояснил, что приобрел произведения искусства для личных целей, но при отправлении продавцом была допущена ошибка в документах, о которой он не знал.
В судебном порядке картина была признана бесхозной и обращена в федеральную собственность государства.
