Один из традиционных митингов в этот день состоялся у стелы «Город воинской славы». Великому Новгороду присвоено это почетное звание в 2008 году.

А еще раньше, в Софийском соборе Кремля мы простились с Александром Петровичем Поповым.

Он был живым участником, живым символом Победы. Нашей духовной связью с той трагедией и последующим за ней торжеством правды. Оставил нас и теперь мы должны сами: и хранить уже созданное им и его боевыми товарищами, и уничтожить трепыхающегося врага.

У Вечного Огня Славы отдали дань памяти всем освободителям Новгорода, защитникам Родины. Отныне всегда будем здесь вспоминать и Александра Петровича.
