Наш мир чрезвычайно уродлив. Мы каждый день толкаемся по серым осенним улицам, в окружении некрасивых людей, трехногих собак, грязных машин, нищих, калек и оборванцев, а с неба на нас капает какая-то серая жижа. Но все это слякотное уныние преображается, когда по улице идет он - сверкающий, подтянутый и счастливый, весь в каких-то чудных бантиках, кружевах, рюшах, блестяшках, значечках, медальках, цепочечках и, конечно, с улыбкой, незнакомой обывателям - улыбкой свободного человека. Это дембель и нет никого прекраснее, чем он на всем белом свете. Дэвид Боуи, Бой Джордж и вся группа KISS обливаются слезами зависти, глядя на дембеля и его Russian Glam-Queer-Military Style.

Just days after Russia invaded Ukraine, Durov wrote that Telegram was "increasingly becoming a source of unverified information," and he worried about the app being used to "incite ethnic hatred." At this point, however, Durov had already been working on Telegram with his brother, and further planned a mobile-first social network with an explicit focus on anti-censorship. Later in April, he told TechCrunch that he had left Russia and had “no plans to go back,” saying that the nation was currently “incompatible with internet business at the moment.” He added later that he was looking for a country that matched his libertarian ideals to base his next startup. He said that since his platform does not have the capacity to check all channels, it may restrict some in Russia and Ukraine "for the duration of the conflict," but then reversed course hours later after many users complained that Telegram was an important source of information. Additionally, investors are often instructed to deposit monies into personal bank accounts of individuals who claim to represent a legitimate entity, and/or into an unrelated corporate account. To lend credence and to lure unsuspecting victims, perpetrators usually claim that their entity and/or the investment schemes are approved by financial authorities. Multiple pro-Kremlin media figures circulated the post's false claims, including prominent Russian journalist Vladimir Soloviev and the state-controlled Russian outlet RT, according to the DFR Lab's report.
