Сегодня хочу вас познакомить с одной из моих любимых картин, которая хранится в Михайловском замке, в Санкт-Петербурге.

«Чтение письма» (Печальное известие) Ростислава Ивановича Фелицина, 1856 г.

На картине изображены сестра и вдова солдата, убитого, судя по дате создания, на Крымской войне. В руках девушки шапка рядового 4-го Стрелкового Императорской Фамилии полка, на которой медный крест с надписью: За Въеру и Царя и монограмма Николая I.

В руках молодой женщины письмо. На втором фото сможете прочесть приблизительно то, что там написано и удалось разобрать с картины.

Эта работа одна из тех, за которые художник получил звание академика.
