Ранее на фоне расследования авиакатастрофы с самолётом «Азербайджанских авиалиний» 25 декабря в Казахстане рейсы из Баку в города РФ отменила сама AZAL, из Астаны в Екатеринбург — Qazaq Air, из Тель-Авива в Москву — El Al, из Дубая в Сочи и Минводы — flydubai.
Также авиационные власти Азербайджана приняли решение прекратить полёты в 10 российских городов.
